Feeling Different

Historical Figures and Their Experiences of Being Different in Various Time Periods

The museum educator brings stories about local historical figures into the classroom. Students gain insight into how these historical figures experienced their childhoods, during which they felt different from others.

By exploring the lives of historical figures as a “common third,” we lay the groundwork for a discussion about what it means to fit in or not fit in with the community.

This program is well-suited as a starting point for well-being education, but can also be linked to other subjects, such as Danish, history, social studies, and sex education/identity education.
