The Assens Local Archives is part of Museum Vestfyn. At the archives, you can get help finding information about Assens. The local archives contain a treasure trove of information, not only about the people who have lived in Assens, but also about businesses, organizations, events, and much more. You could say that the local archive is the community’s collective memory. The information held by the local archive comes from the materials we collect and preserve.
Maintaining our collective memory requires a great deal of work. That is why the Assens Local Archives also needs your help to preserve the history of Assens. If you have any materials that might be of interest to future generations, the archives would be delighted to receive them. These could include, for example, old letters, diaries, or photo albums. If you’re unsure whether you have material that we’d like to receive, please don’t hesitate to contact us. If you have material that you feel is too private for everyone to see, we can also agree on a confidentiality clause for a shorter or longer period.
It's a good idea to bring a camera when you visit the Assens Local Archives. That way, you'll be able to take photos of things like old newspaper articles or pages from records.
If you are unable to stop by and visit us, you can contact us by calling Museum Vestfyn at 64 71 31 90.
