Visit the building where the naval hero Peter Willemoes was born.
Come to Assens and explore the world of the naval hero. At Peter Willemoes’ birthplace, the little ones are invited inside to play and participate in activities. Here, children can “steer ships,” play with “cannonballs,” and learn about the cardinal directions using a compass.
Teachers can bring stories they’d like to read aloud to the children, or they can borrow a copy and read *Sigurd Tells the Story of Peter Willemoes*.
As part of the WILLEMOES exhibition, the museum has made it a priority to give children the opportunity to learn about our local hero through play and stories in the hero’s own childhood home.
You’re welcome to bring your children to visit the naval hero during our opening hours, or you can contact us to arrange a time that works better for you. It’s also possible to arrange for the children to take part in exciting storytelling sessions led by a museum educator.
Take the little ones on a treasure hunt in the exhibition
In the WILLEMOES exhibition, children can see Peter’s personal belongings, his beautiful drawings, cannonballs recovered from the ocean floor, and other exciting items.
When you visit the ticket office, children can pick up a treasure hunt.
Can you find……
Can you count……
A scavenger hunt for the little ones, where they have to find the items they see in the pictures. Maybe they can find the treasure and get a gold coin?
